Preparation of substrate for floors.

Floor Preparation is where the substrate - usually concrete is prepared for tiles, over lays, timber etc.

Un-level or damaged  floors have to be fixed. Fast drying flooring compounds are used along side grinding to make floors level. 

There are many products used from out door compounds, indoor compounds and hard board. Each compound has its own advantage. 

In some cases particle board may need joins sanded from cupping before the laying of carpet.

In the above photo the floor was out 20mm over 1 meter. Care full attention had to be given, as this floor was being prepared for solid wood. The floor was ground flat, expandable filler was added to fill the crack. 

Floor prep is more about making the floor flat. Level is not always important. We specialize in floor preparation for big tiling jobs. These days tiles are getting larger and require the floor to be flat and level. One particular job of late required $25k's worth, the concrete was wavy in both x and y directions. The entire floor was made level without the use of flooring compounds. This saved our client considerable money,
